A Higher Allegiance
Because of our advanced WMD's and the growing number of countries which now possess nuclear weapons, the possibility of someone inadvertently (or deliberately) starting a nuclear war is now a realistic threat. Precisely because of these dangers that now threaten not only our survival; but the survival of all life on Earth, Nature is responding by stirring deep within us inklings of a more authentic and ancient allegiance than any we've pledged to our more transient (evolutionarily speaking), national identities... This higher allegiance now beginning to awaken deep within our human psyche is the allegiance we owe to future generations... to the continued sustainability of our Earth Mother... and to the rest of Earth creation. Love of planet is beginning to exert a stronger pull on our hearts, minds and Souls than any appeals to love of country. It's this greater duty and more primal allegiance that we owe to future generations, and to all of life; that truly has the more legitimate claim on us, and to which we truly owe our deepest faithfulness. It alone transcends the archaic divisions of nationalism, ethnicity, religion, race, and speceism which characterized our past... And it alone embodies our evolutionary future.
This higher allegiance acknowledges the greater truth that we are all one species, indivisible and inter-connected in still mysterious ways to each other... to all other living beings... and to our Earth. It alone can bring about the planetary unity within our species that will finally enable us to create the peaceful world of tomorrow that we all desire. Only by pledging our faithfulness to this higher allegiance, can we enter our future with enthusiasm, awe, gratitude and tremendous hope - rather than with the dread, disempowerment and despair that the Nation State model increasingly holds for us.
Planetization grounds us together spatially in the more objective, holistic and dynamic reality of our home planet - and the Cosmos... It changes the way we structure our human presence over our Earth and transforms our relationship with the rest of creation, with our Earth Mother - and with the Universe. Planetization doesn't demand that we deny the existence of Nation States. It acknowledges the world exactly the way it is. It requires only a shift in perspective. It requires only that we re-think the meaning the Nation State model holds for us - and what meaningfulness, in comparison; we attach to our planetary presence.
And from its higher perspective there can be no doubt...Our planetary presence is the place of greater meaning.

What Will Change?
Everything changes once we let go of the Nation-State model of 'The World' and no longer feel a need to create any conceptual ‘buffer’ that keeps us from realizing our oneness here together on Earth, suspended within the Cosmos. Planetization enables us to de-program our minds from the illusory divides that have until now kept us separated through national boundaries and sub-group allegiances. This new unity is a unity of consciousness which no external border or tribal kinship can prevent us from actualizing. The apparent separations among us that now exist will dissolve into insignificance under the new paradigm of Planetization.

The greatest achievement of our Modern Space Age wasn't bringing back rocks from the Moon... but bringing back the image of our beautiful Earth suspended within the vastness of cosmic space, an image that showed us the literal truth of our Planetary/Cosmic existence, and our essential oneness. However, integrating the truth revealed in this image so that it finally ‘sinks down’ into our consciousness in a meaningful way is a gradual process.
But once we ‘get it,’ the consequences will be irreversible and profound.
